What is business domiciliation?
Business domiciliation means using a domiciliation center's address as the registered office of your company or self-employed activity. This address is recorded in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE), appears on your invoices and official documents, and is where your business mail is received and managed — without renting a physical office.
Why domicile your company?
Domiciliation meets very concrete needs: protecting your privacy, projecting a professional image and controlling costs. It is the preferred solution for freelancers, startups and companies that don't need fixed premises or that work remotely.
- Protect your home address, which stays out of public registers
- Show a credible business address on your documents
- Have your official mail handled (tax, VAT, courts, CBE)
- Save compared with the cost of a full-time rented office
How to set up a domiciliation?
Setting it up is simple. You choose an approved domiciliation center, sign a written domiciliation agreement, then register or transfer your registered office to that address with the CBE (via a business one-stop shop or a notary for a company). The center then handles your mail reception according to the plan you choose.
- Choose an approved center and an address suited to your activity
- Sign the domiciliation agreement
- Register or transfer the registered office at the CBE
Domiciliation, registered office and legal obligations
The domiciliation address becomes your official registered office: the company's legal address, distinct from any establishment units (places of activity). Domiciliation is perfectly legal in Belgium as long as a written agreement links the company to the approved center and the mail is genuinely managed there. Centers comply with anti-money-laundering obligations and keep a register of domiciled companies.
